A 25-year-old woman, reported by local media to have been pregnant, was killed and her 26-year-old husband critically wounded in a shooting in the Kosovo village of Kërvasari, near Malisheva, authorities said.
Police received a report about the shooting at approximately 11:20 p.m. and found the couple suffering from gunshot wounds inside their bedroom.
A firearm believed to have been used in the incident was recovered at the scene, according to police. The morning police report identified the weapon as a revolver.
The woman died before receiving emergency medical treatment. The couple were transported to the University Clinical Centre of Kosovo in Pristina shortly after midnight.
The hospital’s Emergency Centre said the woman arrived without signs of life and had sustained gunshot wounds.
Her husband was admitted with gunshot injuries and remained in a very serious condition.
Police investigators and forensic teams examined the scene, while authorities said an investigation was underway to establish the circumstances and motive behind the shooting.
