Moody’s Investors Service has affirmed Montenegro’s credit rating at ‘Ba3’ with a stable outlook, the Ministry of Finance said on Monday, citing the country’s steady progress in economic policy and fiscal management.
In a statement, the ministry said the affirmation signals confidence in the government’s handling of public finances and the sustainability of its economic programmes.
“This confirmation is a positive signal for the Montenegrin economy, indicating that we are managing public finances responsibly and that our economic programmes are sustainable,” the ministry said.
The government, currently in its 44th composition, has pledged to continue reforms and implement further measures aimed at boosting economic growth, strengthening financial stability and improving living standards.
In its latest report, Moody’s said the rating could be upgraded if Montenegro accelerates fiscal consolidation and maintains control over fiscal risks, particularly those related to the remaining sections of the Bar-Boljare motorway project.
