Montenegro and the United Kingdom signed a Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership on Wednesday, marking a new phase in bilateral ties, the Montenegrin Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
The declaration was signed in the coastal town of Kotor by Montenegrin Foreign Minister Ervin Ibrahimović and UK Special Envoy for the Western Balkans Karen Pierce.
“This declaration opens a new chapter in our cooperation and confirms the strong alliance we share,” Ibrahimović said, describing the agreement as an important milestone in UK-Montenegro relations.
He expressed gratitude for Britain’s continued support of Montenegro’s foreign policy priorities and its active role in promoting democracy, peace, and the rule of law in the Western Balkans.
Pierce said the declaration represents a turning point in deepening the long-standing relationship between the two countries. She reaffirmed the UK’s commitment to supporting Montenegro’s European integration.
“As a close friend and ally, the UK remains fully committed to Montenegro’s path toward the European Union,” she said.
