An unusually designed, unfinished building in the centre of Serbia’s Zlatibor mountain resort has drawn renewed attention from tourists and revived debate about rapid construction at the popular holiday destination.
Photographs of the structure have circulated on social media before, prompting criticism and jokes about its unconventional appearance.
The building has again become a talking point during the busy summer season as visitors question why construction appears to have remained stalled for an extended period.
“This building looks as though someone clumsily assembled it from Kinder Eggs,” one tourist told Serbian news agency RINA.
“It has been here for a long time, work has clearly stopped, and it really disfigures the centre of the mountain,” the visitor added.
The structure has become a focal point in a broader debate over Zlatibor’s transformation in recent years, driven by the construction of hotels, apartment complexes and other tourism facilities.
Critics say intensive development has damaged the character of the mountain resort and frequently describe it as overbuilt or “over-concreted”.
However, Serbian media cited data suggesting that buildings and related facilities occupy about 2% of Zlatibor’s total area.
No information was immediately available about the building’s owner, its intended purpose or whether construction was expected to resume.
