Germany’s ambassador to Kosovo, Jorn Rohde, expressed growing concern on Tuesday over delays in the constitution of the new parliament and the formation of a post-election government, urging swift action amid global uncertainty.
In a post on social media platform Bluesky following a meeting with President Vjosa Osmani, Rohde wrote: “In my meeting with President Osmani, I expressed my increasing concern about the delays in finalising the constitutive session of the Assembly and forming the post-election government. In today’s rapidly changing global landscape, swift action is essential – state functions must always come before party politics.”
Kosovo is facing a political impasse following recent elections, with key institutions still awaiting formation.
Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti reaffirmed on Wednesday that the constitution of parliament must precede any discussion on forming a new government. “First the Assembly, then the government,” Kurti said during a visit to the western town of Istog.
Kurti made the comments after laying the foundation stone for an affordable and social housing project in the municipality. The event was also attended by Acting Minister of Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure Liburn Aliu and Istog Mayor Ilir Ferati.
