German police have arrested a man suspected of killing a 45-year-old during a private party in the Bavarian city of Coburg.
Investigators said the masked attacker forced his way into an apartment on Rosengasse Street during the night between Monday and Tuesday. He allegedly struck the victim with a blunt object before stabbing him in the upper body and fleeing.
Emergency services arrived at around 2:30 a.m. and resuscitated the critically injured man before taking him to hospital. He died from his injuries on Tuesday morning.
Police launched a large-scale manhunt and searched central Coburg for evidence. The suspect was arrested on Wednesday evening in an operation involving special police forces from Middle Franconia.
Authorities have not disclosed the suspect’s age or said whether he knew the victim. The motive and circumstances surrounding the attack remain under investigation.
