Greek police have arrested a 28-year-old Turkish citizen suspected of killing a fellow Turkish national in Athens earlier this month in what investigators believe was a contract killing.

The victim, a 25-year-old Turkish national, was shot dead on June 13 near Strefi Hill in the Exarchia district of the Greek capital.

According to Greek media reports and investigative sources, authorities suspect the alleged gunman received around €18,000 to carry out the killing, with the payment reportedly arranged through a messaging application.

Investigators said the suspect frequently changed his place of residence, moving to a different apartment every five days in an apparent attempt to avoid detection by law enforcement authorities.

In addition to murder charges, the suspect is also facing accusations related to drug offenses and illegal residence in Greece.

Greek police said investigations were continuing to identify individuals believed to have ordered the killing and to determine whether the case is linked to broader criminal networks operating across the region.
