Serbian Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabić said on Friday she will convene the third regular session of the National Assembly next Tuesday, with the government’s 2026 draft budget as the key item on the agenda.
Brnabić told reporters that the proposed budget is intended to support economic growth and fund infrastructure projects, including roads, railways and healthcare facilities. She added that the government aims to complete major works by the end of 2026 ahead of Serbia’s hosting of the specialised EXPO exhibition in 2027.
The agenda will also include draft laws on textbooks and gas, the latter introducing further unbundling in the gas sector aimed at improving efficiency and security of supply, she said.
Brnabić called on opposition MPs to attend the session, saying the budget debate is “the moment when we discuss the vision of how the country should look and how people should live in Serbia.”
Responding to a journalist’s question about opposition politician Marinika Tepić, Brnabić dismissed Tepić’s allegations made earlier in the day. She also criticised media reports suggesting President Aleksandar Vučić had been involved in the so-called “Sarajevo Safari” affair, describing them as part of what she called a coordinated campaign targeting him.
According to Brnabić, the accusations represent “an attack on Serbia,” arguing that Vučić is a central figure in the country’s political stability.
