Türkiye, the world’s largest flour supplier, aims to export more than 400,000 tons of flour to Syria this year, a sector representative said, as shipments continue to rise.

Eren Gunhan Ulusoy, Eurasia director at the International Association of Operative Millers (IAOM), told state-run Anadolu Agency that Türkiye has been a key supplier to Syria throughout the civil war, though exports have fluctuated due to geopolitical factors.

Speaking at the 19th International Congress of the Turkish Flour Industrialists’ Federation (TUSAF), Ulusoy said Syria’s Idlib and Raqqa regions have become primary export destinations due to their proximity.

“Syria will remain an important market for Türkiye in the coming years, and the flour sector will play a role in the country’s reconstruction,” he said.

Türkiye’s flour exports to Syria rose from 267,000 tons in 2023 to 326,000 tons in 2024, he added.
