Serbian Prime Minister Đuro Macut condemned a Bosnian court ruling against Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik on Saturday, calling it politically motivated and harmful to peace and stability in the region.
“This decision is not just directed against one man, but against the institutions of Republika Srpska and the entire Serbian people,” Macut said in a statement issued by the Serbian government.
Macut claimed the ruling underscored opposition to “the unity of the Serbian people, stability, cooperation and peace” being developed between Serbia and Republika Srpska.
He added that the Serbian people had historically faced various forms of pressure but had always remained united and resilient.
“We remain composed and focused on one another. Love for our homeland, unity, and the fraternal bond between Serbia and Republika Srpska are stronger than any injustice,” Macut said.
He emphasized that Serbia would continue to support Republika Srpska and advocate for the rights of all peoples and entities within internationally recognized agreements.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić also criticized the Bosnian court’s decision, which upheld a one-year prison sentence and a six-year political ban for Dodik.
“These verdicts are undemocratic, immoral, and contrary to basic rights and the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina. We do not accept such a decision,” Vučić said.
