The Municipality of Ohrid has published digital editions of books from its Ohrid Literary Heritage project, led by Dimitar Pandev, Slave Gjorgjo Dimoski, and Mitre Veljanoski.
The books are available for free download on the municipality’s website (https://ohrid.gov.mk), with the authors hoping they will serve as valuable resources for students and scholars researching Ohrid’s cultural and historical legacy.
Launched in 2018, the Ohrid Literary Heritage imprint has published 11 books, including Come to Ohrid: An Anthology of Poems about Ohrid (2018), A Laurel Anthology (2020), A Book about Chingo (2021), and The Ohrid Storytellers (2022). The latest releases include The Ohrid Writers for Children and Young People (2024), The Ohrid Playwrights (2024), and Critical Essays on Ohrid Writers (2025).
Three additional books—The Ohrid Folklorists, Ohrid Historiography, and The Ohrid Literary School—are set for release in 2025.
The project aims to document the contributions of Ohrid’s intellectuals, revolutionaries, and public figures. “Our duty is to preserve the Macedonian language and honor the memory of the greats who shaped Macedonian culture and society,” the municipality said in a statement.
