Montenegrin Prime Minister Milojko Spajic said on Monday that synergy between central and local authorities is crucial for attracting large investments, adding that municipalities must actively compete for investors’ attention when they show interest in Montenegro.
Spajic met with mayors from Montenegro’s southern municipalities to discuss investment opportunities and the growing interest from foreign investors.
“The goal of all international visits is to promote Montenegro’s potential, but we must understand that the realization of large investments requires synergy between central and local authorities,” Spajic said, according to a statement from his office. “Our task is to create opportunities, while local administrations must facilitate the implementation of major projects that can improve living standards.”
Spajic highlighted the increased interest from investors following his recent meetings abroad but noted a lack of initiative and responsiveness from local governments.
“When an investor shows interest in our country, municipalities must compete for their attention. It is particularly important to improve the business environment and create opportunities for local development and employment,” he added.
The prime minister also underscored the positive impact of new investments on local entrepreneurs, creating fresh opportunities to grow their businesses.
