Kosovo’s acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti told Mufti Naim Tërnava he aims to hold the vote for the new government on the same day as the swearing-in of members of parliament at the constitutive session of the Kosovo Assembly.

During a visit to the Islamic Community, Kurti was asked by Mufti Tërnava if they had rested after the February 9 elections. Kurti responded that the constitutive session of the Kosovo Assembly would take place after the certification of the results.

“After the results are published, there is a session where we take the oath. We aim for a session where the speaker, the presidency, and the government are elected on the same day, as we did last time,” he said.

A moment of laughter ensued when Tërnava noted to Kurti that MPs’ salaries begin as soon as they take their oaths.

“Once the MPs take the oath, their salaries start, right?” Tërnava asked, to which Kurti replied, “It seems so.” Tërnava then added, “The MPs should say, ‘God prolong it.'”
