Greece will host the 10th Annual Forum of the EU Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Region (EUSAIR) in Chania, Crete, from May 5 to 8, aiming to bolster regional cooperation and support the EU integration of the Western Balkans.
The event, titled “Bridging Horizons: Strengthening Cooperation, Resilience, and Cohesion in the Adriatic-Ionian Region,” is co-organised by Greece’s Ministry of National Economy and Finance and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in partnership with the European Commission.
Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance Nikos Papathanasis and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Tasos Chatzivasileiou will represent Greece in the forum’s ministerial proceedings.
The Greek Presidency of the initiative has set out key priorities, including enhancing cross-border cooperation, promoting social cohesion, and reinforcing the region’s alignment with the EU’s post-2027 Cohesion Policy. The agenda also includes a focus on blue skills development, climate change adaptation, and updates to the EUSAIR Action Plan.
The Adriatic-Ionian initiative brings together EU and non-EU countries in Southeast Europe, with the goal of fostering stability, connectivity, and sustainable development across the region.
