Eleven citizens of have formally requested assistance to evacuate from , the Foreign Ministry said on Saturday, as the security situation in the region deteriorates.
“According to the latest information, the airspace remains closed at least until Monday,” the ministry said in a statement. It added that options for a possible evacuation would be considered once the airspace reopens, in line with circumstances and the security situation.
At this stage, the ministry urged North Macedonian citizens in Israel to closely follow official announcements by Israeli authorities, comply with security protocols and remain in shelters when instructed.
The ministry said it was in continuous communication with citizens through its embassies in Tel Aviv, Doha and Abu Dhabi, as well as through its emergency services, and remained fully available to provide assistance and coordination.
In a subsequent update, the ministry said that no North Macedonian citizens had requested evacuation from Qatar or the United Arab Emirates so far.
Separately, the ministry and the embassy in Tel Aviv advised citizens in Israel to stay in or near protected areas, ensure they know the location of the nearest shelter and keep essential supplies readily available, including water, food, medicines and charged mobile phones.
Israel’s airspace has been closed to civilian flights until further notice, with all commercial inbound and outbound flights suspended, the ministry said, citing information from the embassy in Tel Aviv.
The Foreign Ministry said it would continue to monitor developments and inform the public of any further changes.
