ZAGREB, May 25 (BV)— Croatia’s Ministry of Labour, Pension System, Family and Social Policy was hit by a cyberattack after its website displayed a nationalist message and links to a Telegram channel belonging to a group calling itself INF Group, Croatian media reported.
A message reading “Death to Ustashas, long live Greater Serbia” appeared on part of the ministry’s portal on Sunday, according to Tportal.
The website’s homepage later became unavailable, while some disputed material reportedly remained visible on several subpages.
The content included music, an animated video and a link to the Telegram channel of INF Group, which claimed responsibility for the unauthorized intrusion.
The Telegram channel was reportedly created on Saturday and had not published further details about the motive or technical method behind the attack.
The ministry had not issued an official statement by the time of the report. Tportal said it had sent questions to the ministry and would publish the response once received.
The same group’s name also appeared in a separate incident in Serbia, where screens inside public transport buses in Belgrade reportedly displayed messages including “Glory to Vučić” and “Raise drivers’ hourly wages.”
The incidents come amid heightened political and ethnic sensitivities in the Balkans, where nationalist messages, cyberattacks and disinformation campaigns have increasingly become tools of pressure and provocation.
Croatian authorities are expected to investigate how the attackers gained access to the ministry’s online system and whether the breach exposed internal data.
