Thousands of visitors attended the Leipzig Book Fair on its opening day.

Through joint programs with the Traduki network and the Ministry of Economy, Culture and Innovation, Albanian literature has gained greater visibility in the German language through various translations.
The National Books and Reading Center stated on its website that European book fairs, where readers, authors, translators, publishers, and literary critics gather, serve as platforms for cultural exchange and as opportunities to showcase Albanian literature in multiple languages.
On the first day of the fair, Albanian authors Elvin Nuri, Flogerta Krypi, and Mimoza Ahmeti participated in a panel titled “Words, Words, Words,” which drew the interest of attendees.
A discussion on “Literature and Geopolitics” took place at the Albanian stand, focusing on the German translation of Ismail Kadare’s novel When Rulers Quarrel. The panel featured Joachim Rohm, Adia Sakiqi, Mimoza Ahmeti, and translator Loreta Schillock.
Speakers examined Kadare’s place in world literature, his exploration of power, history, and freedom, and his role in bridging Eastern and Western literary traditions.
