Serbian Prime Minister Đuro Macut said on Thursday that the government will present a report next week outlining key achievements during its first 100 days in office, highlighting progress on media legislation, digital healthcare, and education reform.

Macut, speaking to public broadcaster RTS, said a new electronic sick leave system had been implemented to streamline workforce monitoring in the healthcare sector. He also mentioned the adoption of new media laws and a law on electronic visas.

“As part of our commitment, we have passed significant legislation and initiated systemic reforms. This will be detailed in our 100-day report next week,” he said.

Among the new initiatives, Macut said the government had adopted a draft law on textbooks, a key element of his policy platform, which he hopes will enter parliamentary procedure in the coming days.

He also announced that September 1 will officially be designated as “Non-Aligned Day” in Serbia, commemorating the launch of the Non-Aligned Movement in Belgrade in 1961.

“The movement was born in Belgrade’s international framework. We must remember that legacy and show we are ready to rebuild old friendships and cooperate with countries worldwide,” Macut said.

He added that Serbia wants to reassert its global role by marking this historical date, with potential events aimed at inviting international partners to Belgrade.

Addressing the political climate, Macut acknowledged the challenges he faced upon assuming office, noting that the situation had been “extremely difficult” and that public protests and road blockades had created an atmosphere of instability.

He said the invitation to lead the government came as a surprise, but he saw it as an opportunity to contribute to national progress, especially in education, where he has an academic background.

“Our education system isn’t weak — it needs strengthening. We have the capacity to rebuild our economy and institutions,” Macut said, pledging to personally contribute to this effort.
