Montenegro’s Public Enterprise for Coastal Zone Authority Accuses Budva Municipality of Blocking Pier Installation has accused the Budva municipality of obstructing the installation of new pontoons in the Budva marina by blocking access to the site.
In a statement released on Friday, the enterprise said it had launched the final phase of a project aimed at expanding communal berths and improving conditions for boaters and visitors in the Bay of Budva. The project, it said, had cleared procurement procedures and was ready for transport and installation.
“Unfortunately, the Municipality of Budva has rejected our request to allow trucks to deliver pontoons to the marina, preventing access through a barrier gate and public road leading to the Old Town,” the authority said.
The enterprise described the municipal blockade as “inconsistent with the law, common sense, and public interest,” and said it would continue to pursue the upgrade, which is intended to benefit residents, sailors and the local economy.
The installation marks the first expansion of the marina’s infrastructure in more than two decades. The new pontoons are expected to be operational next week.
