North Macedonia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Timcho Mucunski, will travel to Dayton, Ohio on Sunday to take part in events marking the 30th anniversary of the Dayton Peace Accord, held during the Spring Session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.
Mucunski’s visit comes at the invitation of U.S. Congressman Michael Turner, who heads the United States delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade said in a statement on Saturday.
During his visit, the minister is scheduled to speak at a panel discussion on promoting stability in the Western Balkans and participate in the final plenary session of the assembly.
He will also attend a working dinner alongside regional leaders and senior officials, focusing on regional peace and stability. The talks will address the progress made in the Western Balkans, persisting challenges, and the need for renewed international engagement on security and economic development in the region.
Particular emphasis will be placed on the Dayton Agreement’s enduring role in maintaining peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the broader Balkan region, the ministry said.
The Dayton Peace Accord, signed in December 1995, ended the Bosnian war and laid the foundation for the country’s current constitutional structure.
