Greece has secured multiple top spots in Tripadvisor’s 2026 Travelers’ Choice “Best of the Best Beaches” rankings, reinforcing its position as a leading global tourism destination.
Four Greek beaches were included among the world’s top 15, with two ranking in the global top three, based on millions of traveller reviews collected over a 12-month period.
Elafonissi Beach on the island of Crete ranked second worldwide, praised for its distinctive pink-tinged sand and shallow turquoise waters, while Balos Lagoon, also on Crete, placed third.
Two additional beaches — Falassarna Beach on Crete and Paleokastritsa Beach on the island of Corfu — ranked 11th and 14th respectively.
The annual Tripadvisor ranking highlights fewer than 1% of the platform’s roughly 8 million listings, making inclusion a strong indicator of global traveller preference.
Tourism analysts say the results underline Greece’s continued appeal, particularly its diverse coastline and established reputation for high-quality seaside destinations.
The rankings come as European tourism intensifies competition for visitors ahead of the peak summer season, with Mediterranean destinations seeking to capitalise on strong post-pandemic demand.
