Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of U.S. President Donald Trump, was expected to arrive in Banja Luka on Tuesday, with authorities in Bosnia’s Serb Republic tightening security and imposing traffic restrictions ahead of the visit.
According to local media reports citing flight tracking data, an aircraft travelling from West Palm Beach, Florida, was headed to Banja Luka airport, with landing expected at around 1300 local time.
Police in Republika Srpska said a number of roads in and around Banja Luka and nearby Laktasi would face restrictions during the visit, including temporary full traffic stoppages during the movement of protected persons.
Authorities also imposed a ban on the transport of explosives, weapons and military equipment on affected routes for the day, and said additional police and security measures would be in force.
Local media said traffic bans for heavy vehicles would apply from 1000 to midnight on several major roads, including sections linking Mahovljani, Aleksandrovac, Klasnice, Jakupovci and Banja Luka, as well as streets across the city and a local road between Krnete and Bakinci.
Donald Trump Jr. is an executive vice president of the Trump Organization and has played a prominent public role in his father’s political campaigns.
His visit has drawn significant attention in Republika Srpska, where officials have highlighted the security arrangements surrounding the trip.
