Serbian welterweight Uroš Medić scored the biggest win of his UFC career on Saturday, knocking out American fighter Geoff Neal in just 79 seconds. The dominant performance earned Medić a $100,000 “Performance of the Night” bonus and reinforced his reputation as one of the most explosive fighters in the welterweight division, now holding seven wins—all by knockout—and three losses.
Medić’s victory also brought a long-awaited resolution to his immigration challenges in the United States. The fighter has been unable to leave the country for years due to an unresolved status with U.S. immigration authorities. That issue was unexpectedly resolved after Medić met with UFC President Dana White, who facilitated a discussion with President Donald Trump.
“I know immigration has a lot of cases, and mine had been unresolved for five years. I couldn’t go home. Dana White spoke with President Trump on my behalf. I couldn’t believe it—I spoke directly with the president. He told me I could go anywhere, just give the papers to Dana,” Medić said. He added that his wife is Slovenian and that he has long admired Trump and Melania.
With travel restrictions lifted, Medić may soon compete in a potential UFC event in Belgrade, which has been the subject of growing speculation. Saturday’s fight gave him both the crowning achievement of his career and the freedom to travel internationally—a dual reason to celebrate.
