The average monthly net salary in Croatia rose 9.2% year-on-year in March to €1,448, while real wages grew 5.8%, the national statistics bureau (DZS) said on Wednesday.
Compared with February, the average net salary increased by 2.3% in nominal terms and 1.9% in real terms.
The highest average net wage in March was recorded in the broadcasting sector at €3,469, while the lowest was in clothing manufacturing at €927.
The median net salary stood at €1,200, up 2.1% from February and 10.5% higher year-on-year, meaning half of all employees earned less and half earned more.
The average gross monthly salary rose 9.8% annually to €2,014, and increased by 2.5% month-on-month in nominal terms. In real terms, gross wages rose 6.4% year-on-year and 2.1% compared with February.
Broadcasting also posted the highest average gross salary in March at €5,698, while the clothing manufacturing sector reported the lowest at €1,215.
In the first quarter of 2025, the average net salary amounted to €1,418, up 11.6% year-on-year in nominal terms and 7.7% in real terms. The average gross salary for the same period reached €1,968, a nominal increase of 12.7% and a real rise of 8.8%.
Employees worked an average of 166 paid hours in March, 5.7% more than in February. The water transport sector recorded the highest number of paid hours (179), while building maintenance and landscaping had the fewest (150).
The average net hourly wage stood at €8.46, down 3% from February but 9.2% higher than in March 2024.
