Germany and Austria have imposed sanctions on Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik, Prime Minister Radovan Višković, and Parliament Speaker Nenad Stevandić for what they described as attacks on Bosnia and Herzegovina’s constitutional order.
The sanctions include a travel ban to these two countries and asset freezes in Germany and Austria, according to the Klix news portal.
“The attacks by leading Republika Srpska politicians on Bosnia and Herzegovina’s constitutional integrity, which deliberately weaken the state, are unacceptable and pose a threat to regional security and stability. They also obstruct the European integration process and endanger Bosnia and Herzegovina’s future in the EU,” said a joint statement from German and Austrian authorities, as reported by FoNet.
Dodik and his associates had previously been sanctioned by the United States and the United Kingdom for what those countries described as undermining the Dayton Peace Agreement and destabilizing the region.
