Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić announced plans to meet with professors and politicians next week to hear ideas from voices that have not been widely heard before.
“After returning from Davos, we will hold our first gathering to listen to educators and others about improving education. For example, should we shorten class times? People’s attention spans today are different—no one can focus for 45 minutes. Let’s see what else we can do, what curriculum changes are needed, how to accelerate language learning, and whether we should introduce more languages earlier in schools. We must adapt to global trends and make dual education mandatory rather than avoiding it,” Vučić said.
Talks with Orbán on energy interests
Vučić also met with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán to discuss relations between the two countries and explore opportunities for future cooperation.
“I’m happy we’ve built excellent relations between Serbs and Hungarians. I’m also pleased that we can openly discuss issues like the situation in Ukraine, our strategies, and how to protect our energy interests,” Vučić told TV Happy, reports Tanjug.
He emphasized the strong mutual support between the two leaders. “I’m glad I can ask Orbán for help and vice versa. That’s something free people can do. I’m a free man. Some might tell me to say something just to secure political support for others, but I won’t say what I don’t believe,” Vučić stated.
Trump’s inauguration
During his conversation with Orbán, Vučić mentioned the upcoming inauguration of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump. He noted that Orbán, one of Trump’s closest allies in Europe, would not attend the event because no invitations were extended except to Chinese President Xi Jinping.
“China’s president is the only one sending a representative, either a vice president or prime minister, to attend,” Vučić said, adding that he has no intention of ingratiating himself with anyone.
