The U.S. Embassy in Albania has issued a global security alert for American citizens, citing heightened tensions in the Middle East due to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran.
In a public statement, the Embassy warned that the conflict has led to travel disruptions and periodic closures of airspace across the region. It also raised concerns over potential protests targeting U.S. citizens and interests in various countries.
“Global Alert: The conflict between Israel and Iran has resulted in travel disruptions and intermittent airspace closures throughout the Middle East. There is potential for anti-U.S. protests and threats to American interests abroad,” the Embassy said.
The U.S. State Department urged American citizens to exercise increased caution when traveling internationally and to stay informed about safety conditions.
“Please carefully review the Travel Advisory, country-specific information, and recent security alerts before making any travel plans,” the notice read, directing travelers to travel.state.gov/destination.
