Turkey ranked fourth among the world’s most visited countries in 2024, attracting 56.7 million foreign visitors, state broadcaster TRT Haber reported on Tuesday, citing data from the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
France, Spain, the United States, Turkey, and Italy made up the top five destinations.
Turkish Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy welcomed the news on social media, noting that Turkey had moved up one spot on the UNWTO ranking. He said the result would further support efforts to promote the country’s history, rich cultural heritage, and year-round tourism offerings.
“Turkey is no longer just a country that draws attention but a model in this regard,” Ersoy said.
