Former members of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), currently detained by the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague, will be permitted to participate in the electoral process as voters.

This was confirmed to RTKlive by Michael Doyle, spokesperson for the Kosovo Specialist Chambers.

“All necessary measures have been taken to ensure that detainees exercise their civil rights as citizens of Kosovo to vote in the upcoming parliamentary elections,” Doyle stated to RTKlive.

The Central Election Commission (CEC) announced yesterday that it is in contact with the Specialist Chambers to facilitate the voting process for the former KLA members.

CEC spokesperson Valmir Elezi told RTKlive that the voting process will be organized in accordance with the Commission’s regulations.

“I can confirm that the Central Election Commission is in contact with the Specialist Chambers to organize voting for Kosovo citizens currently detained in The Hague. The voting process will be conducted in line with CEC rules,” Elezi said.

This development ensures that the detainees will maintain their civic rights while awaiting trial or proceedings in The Hague.
