Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said on Sunday that the Preljina-Požega section of the “Miloš Veliki” motorway, connecting Belgrade to western Serbia, is nearing completion.
Speaking during a visit to the construction site, Vučić said that the Laz tunnel has been completed and that work on the Munjino Brdo tunnel is in its final stages.
“It is incredible how this part of the motorway will look,” Vučić told reporters. “Once finished, it will significantly shorten travel times to Užice, Zlatibor, and the wider region.”
Vučić said the project will help connect several towns in western Serbia, including Užice, Zlatibor, Nova Varoš, Priboj, and Prijepolje.
“We still have work to do, especially the descent toward Užice,” he said. “It looks magnificent. Only now do I fully understand how difficult it was for the Chinese contractors to build this section. It will be even harder as the work progresses toward Sjenica.”
The Preljina-Požega section is considered a critical infrastructure project for improving regional connectivity and boosting economic development.
