Saudi Arabian budget airline Flynas on Friday launched direct flights between Jeddah and Pristina, the first scheduled air link between the two cities.

The inaugural service carried 66 passengers and was greeted at Pristina International Airport with a water cannon salute and an official ceremony. Flynas will operate the route three times a week — on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays — using an Airbus A320 aircraft.

Lulzim Mjeku, Kosovo’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia, said the new connection was a step beyond tourism.

“The launch of direct Flynas flights between Jeddah and Pristina is more than a tourism milestone. It signals Kosovo’s rise as a new destination for Saudi business and investment,” Mjeku said in a statement.

He added that business communities in both countries had long sought direct air links, noting that the two governments signed an air services agreement last year and have since concluded several basic accords aimed at boosting trade and cooperation.
