Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) Secretary General Amer Kapetanovic wrapped up a visit to North Macedonia, holding talks with the country’s top officials, including President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, and Speaker of Parliament Afrim Gashi.
Discussions centered on advancing the Common Regional Market Action Plan, the SEE2030 Strategy, and commitments to the Green Agenda. North Macedonian officials reaffirmed their support for RCC initiatives, pledging greater adaptability to regional frameworks to accelerate cooperation.
The visit highlighted North Macedonia’s leadership in regional initiatives, including its status as the first Western Balkan country to adopt an Energy and Climate Plan, its progress in innovation and digitalization, and its upcoming role as host of the Western Balkans Digital Summit.
“North Macedonia continues to show forward-thinking leadership and a strong commitment to regional cooperation. By working together, we can build a more integrated, sustainable, and competitive South East Europe,” Kapetanovic said.
The RCC also outlined key priorities, including improving the business environment, fostering innovation, and supporting sustainable growth. Initiatives such as parliamentary cooperation, disaster risk management, and digital transformation remain central to RCC’s regional agenda.
During his visit, Kapetanovic also met with EU Ambassador to North Macedonia Michalis Rokas, discussing the Western Balkans’ progress on the EU path and regional cooperation priorities.
Kapetanovic will next travel to Tirana, where he is set to meet with Albania’s president and parliamentary speaker. Later this week, he will chair a Brussels meeting of the WB6 Prime Ministers’ Sherpas, focusing on the implementation of the Common Regional Market Action Plan.
