Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić had previously warned that a conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran could erupt, saying the world had been preparing for such a scenario for months and that Europe could suffer the greatest consequences.

Pro-government media outlets in Serbia have highlighted Vučić’s earlier statements in recent broadcasts, portraying them as evidence that the president had anticipated the escalation of tensions between the United States, Israel and Iran.

Regional broadcaster CD Face TV aired footage of Vučić’s remarks from Oct. 3, 2025, in which he said the international environment had become increasingly polarized.

“Nobody is trying to persuade anyone anymore. Everyone has chosen their side and is preparing,” Vučić said at the time.

In an interview with Serbia’s public broadcaster the following day, he warned that global actors were preparing for conflict and that war could become difficult to avoid.

“Everyone is preparing for war; the only question is which side someone belongs to,” Vučić said.

Vučić also referred earlier this year to unrest in Iran, comparing the situation to past efforts aimed at regime change and mentioning the 1953 coup known as Operation Ajax.

In his most recent remarks on Friday, Vučić said the fallout from a conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran would likely be felt most strongly in Europe.

“The biggest damage from this war will be suffered by Europe,” he said.

Pro-government media in Serbia have presented these past statements as proof that Vučić had foreseen the possibility of a wider conflict in the Middle East.
