Pristina International Airport Adem Jashari handled more than 500,000 passengers in August, its highest monthly total on record, a spokesperson said on Friday.
Passenger traffic has grown steadily since the start of the year, rising about 16% from January to June, airport spokesperson Valentina Gara told KosovaPress.
“This is the first time the airport has recorded half a million passengers within one month,” Gara said.
The most popular destinations remain Switzerland and Germany, followed by Turkey, Austria and other European and global routes, she said.
New routes will also open in the coming weeks, including EasyJet flights to Lyon starting on Sept. 28 and services to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, from Oct. 1. This year, the airport also added flights to Helsinki and Paris with GP Aviation and ASA Airlines.
Despite the surge in passenger numbers, operations have run smoothly due to expanded infrastructure and staff, Gara said, noting there were no delays or cancellations caused by airport operations.
Pristina airport handled over 4 million passengers in 2024, a 19.2% increase from 2023, with flights up 16.1%. The airport aims to reach 4.5 million passengers by the end of 2025.
