Montenegro’s parliament has installed a rooftop solar power plant on its building in the capital Podgorica, in what it described as a step toward greater energy efficiency and sustainable development.

The system includes 150 monocrystalline panels with a total capacity of 81 kWp and a 70 kVA inverter, parliament said in a statement. It is expected to generate more than 100,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity a year, covering a significant share of the legislature’s energy needs and cutting greenhouse gas emissions.

“This project demonstrates the Parliament’s ongoing commitment to improving energy efficiency,” the statement said, noting that earlier renovations and modernization efforts had already led to substantial energy savings.
