Greece and Armenia on Thursday signed a military cooperation programme for 2026, aimed at strengthening joint training, operational readiness and interoperability between their armed forces, Greece’s defence general staff said.
The agreement was signed in Yerevan as part of international cooperation between allied and friendly militaries, according to the Hellenic National Defence General Staff (HNDGS).
Under the programme, the two countries will cooperate in operational training and crisis management, conduct joint training of special operations forces, exchange experience and lessons learned, and hold staff-level meetings, the HNDGS said.
Greek defence officials said the scope of planned activities reflects close military ties between Athens and Yerevan and is intended to enhance operational capabilities and interoperability.
The cooperation is also aimed at reinforcing the role of Greece and Armenia as contributors to security and stability in the wider Caucasus region, the HNDGS added. The announcement was first reported by Greece’s state news agency AMNA.
