Greece remains one of the top 15 most popular travel destinations for tourists from the United States, Canada, and Australia, while interest from Indian travellers has reached record levels, surpassing neighbouring China for the first time, according to a new survey by the Institute of the Greek Tourism Confederation (INSETE).
The findings are part of INSETE’s latest report, Profile of Key Markets of Greek Tourism – Part B, which examines travel intentions from five key non-European markets: the U.S., Canada, China, India, and Australia. These countries accounted for about 11% of Greece’s total inbound tourism revenue in both 2019 and 2023.
The report, a follow-up to an earlier analysis of European source markets, explores travellers’ preferences, motivations, and likelihood of visiting Greece within the next 12 months.
Data was gathered through an online survey conducted by Global Web Index (GWI) between January and February 2025, involving 12,205 respondents aged 16 to 64.
The study provides insights into how travellers from distant markets perceive Greece and what influences their holiday decisions, as the country continues to strengthen its global tourism appeal.
