Zeljka Cvijanovic, the Serb member of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s tripartite presidency, said Tuesday she had been joined in Washington by Republika Srpska leader Milorad Dodik and acting Republika Srpska president Ana Trisic Babic, according to posts on social media.
“We are here,” Cvijanovic wrote on Instagram alongside a photograph with Dodik.
Dodik arrived in the United States on Sunday and is expected to attend the National Prayer Breakfast, Bosnian Serb broadcaster RTRS reported. Trisic Babic is also expected to attend the event.
Cvijanovic arrived in Washington earlier and has held several meetings with U.S. officials and lawmakers. On Tuesday, she met Republican Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna to discuss the political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, RTRS reported.
Cvijanovic also said she held talks with Republican Congressman Pete Hergin, focusing on what she described as key political and security challenges facing Bosnia and the wider region.
Late on Monday, Cvijanovic met with U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, a senior official in President Donald Trump’s administration. In a statement posted on social media, Cvijanovic said the two discussed ways to strengthen economic cooperation and expand U.S. investment in both Republika Srpska and the Bosniak-Croat Federation.
Bosnia and Herzegovina has remained politically divided since the 1992–95 war, with frequent tensions between the central government and the country’s two autonomous entities.
