China’s embassy in Serbia rejected what it called unfounded claims made in a television interview about the investigation into a safety incident at the railway station in Novi Sad, saying the allegations were an attempt to damage relations between Beijing and Belgrade.

In a post on X, the embassy said it expressed “strong dissatisfaction and condemnation” over statements suggesting that Serbia’s leadership had sent certain messages to the Chinese embassy regarding the case.

The embassy described the claims as inaccurate and urged media outlets and individuals in Serbia to stop spreading what it called false information.

It also called on Serbian citizens to remain cautious toward statements and actions aimed at creating division in China-Serbia relations and obstructing cooperation between the two countries.

The embassy said preserving the “steel friendship” between China and Serbia remains important.
