Serbian Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabić sparked controversy after commenting on the protest held outside the Serbian national broadcaster, RTS. In a post on her X (formerly Twitter) account, she claimed the underlying message of the protest was to “kill President Aleksandar Vučić.”
Brnabić shared a segment from N1 Television, highlighting a statement made by a protester who said: “For Sloba (Milošević), it was ‘he’s finished,’ and for this one (Vučić), it’s ‘he was a tall man.’”
“Finally, the essence of their program! A young student in full bloom explained it: Kill Aleksandar Vučić. All with a smile: ‘He was a tall man.’ The journalist from Šolak’s media outlet didn’t even blink. It’s good they’re not calling for hatred and conflict—imagine what it would look like if they did,” Brnabić wrote.
The protest, titled “Our Right to Know Everything,” drew large crowds of students and citizens to the RTS headquarters. Students initially marched in two separate groups from the Law Faculty and Student Square, merging into one large procession near the National Assembly.
Outside RTS, they were met by a large gathering of citizens. At 7:00 PM, participants observed 15 minutes of silence to honor the 15 victims of the recent roof collapse in Novi Sad.
The demonstration highlighted growing tensions between the government and its critics, with protesters demanding greater transparency and accountability from state institutions.
