Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Foreign Minister Elmedin Konaković met with U.S. Congressman Mike Turner in Washington on Thursday to discuss deepening strategic ties between the two countries, with a focus on trade, energy, defense cooperation, and regional stability.
Talks centered on enhancing bilateral relations and addressing the political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, according to a statement from the Bosnian Foreign Ministry. Both sides emphasized the importance of maintaining security and stability in Bosnia and the broader Western Balkans.
Konaković thanked Turner for his continued engagement and support, including his role in organizing a commemorative event in Dayton, Ohio, in May marking the 30th anniversary of the Dayton Peace Agreement, which ended the 1992–1995 Bosnian War.
Turner, chair of the House Intelligence Committee, reaffirmed Washington’s support for Bosnia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and Euro-Atlantic aspirations.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Konaković presented Turner with a certificate of appreciation, recognizing his legislative efforts and commitment to peace and stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
