Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama met with NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte on Tuesday on the sidelines of the alliance’s summit in The Hague, sharing what he called a “strategic and friendly” exchange.
In a post on social media, Rama described Rutte as a “precious friend” and shared photos from the meeting. “A pleasure to meet NATO Secretary-General and dear friend Mark Rutte,” he wrote.
According to Rama, the two discussed a range of strategic issues, including follow-up commitments from the NATO Summit, regional developments in the Western Balkans, and NATO’s future role in Albania’s new port of Durrës, where a dedicated military terminal is planned.
The meeting also touched on preparations for the 2027 NATO Summit, which is scheduled to take place in the Albanian capital, Tirana.
