Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Tuesday he had spoken by phone with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov about tensions in Kosovo and Bosnia, as well as strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries.

In a post on Instagram, Vucic said he briefed Lavrov on the “difficult situation” in Kosovo, citing what he described as persecution of the Serb population and a lack of response from much of the international community.

“I informed Minister Lavrov about the internal situation, particularly concerning Kosovo and Metohija and the continuous attempts to drive out our people from their ancestral homes, as well as the silence of most of the international community,” Vucic wrote.

He added that the two also discussed bilateral relations, joint projects, and ways to expand cooperation in international forums and organisations.

“It was agreed to continue working on the development of our relations in various areas,” Vucic said.
