European Union Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos is visiting North Macedonia on Monday to take part in a high-level EU–Western Balkans summit focused on the bloc’s Growth Plan for the region.
Kos is scheduled to hold a one-on-one meeting with North Macedonia’s Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski later on today, followed by bilateral meetings involving other delegations, according to the government in Skopje.
The summit, hosted in the capital over two days, will gather leaders from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, Serbia, and North Macedonia, as well as ministers, EU officials, and representatives from international and regional institutions.
On Monday, two panel sessions will take place, the first of which will focus on the EU Growth Plan for the Western Balkans. Mickoski and Kos are expected to address participants before holding a joint press conference. The second panel will examine concrete mechanisms and support measures for implementing the Growth Plan.
The European Commission previously announced Kos visit, saying it was part of broader engagement with regional leaders to advance economic integration and reforms aimed at accelerating EU accession processes.
Authorities have introduced special traffic measures in central Skopje for the duration of the summit. The Interior Ministry urged residents and commuters to follow police instructions and plan accordingly.
