Bulgaria to Attend First Peace Council Meeting in Washington

Bulgaria will take part in the inaugural meeting of a newly established Peace Council in Washington on Feb. 19, the country’s Foreign Ministry said on Monday, adding that the initiative is being organised by U.S. President Donald Trump.

The Bulgarian delegation will be led by Ivan Naydenov, the ministry’s permanent secretary. It will also include Konstantin Dimitrov, director-general for political affairs, and Stefka Yovcheva, Bulgaria’s chargé d’affaires in Washington.

The ministry said the delegation would represent the country at the meeting during a period of political transition in Bulgaria following the government’s resignation.

No further details were provided on the agenda of the Peace Council, which is expected to focus on international security and diplomatic coordination, according to the statement.
