UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy said on Wednesday that London considers a stable and secure Western Balkans crucial and views Serbia as a key player in ensuring regional stability.

Speaking after signing multiple cooperation memorandums following talks with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić in Belgrade’s Villa Mir, Lammy emphasized the region’s strategic importance to the United Kingdom.

“The Western Balkans has been and remains important to the UK, and Belgrade has been a strong ally in both World Wars,” Lammy said.

“A stable and secure Western Balkans is vital for us today, and Serbia plays a crucial role in ensuring that stability,” he added.
