Türkiye’s automotive industry remained the country’s biggest exporter in 2025, with overseas sales rising 11.6% from a year earlier to $41.5 billion, according to latest data from the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM).
The sector accounted for 17.5% of total goods exports, which reached an all-time high of $273.4 billion last year, President Tayyip Erdoğan said in a speech in Istanbul.
Erdoğan said combined goods and services exports were estimated at $396.5 billion in 2025, exceeding the government’s target of $390 billion.
Chemicals and chemical products were the second-largest export group at $31.9 billion, followed by electrical and electronics goods at $17.7 billion.
The sharpest growth was recorded in the defence and aviation sector, where exports jumped 48.8% year-on-year.
Industrial products made up 82% of total goods exports, rising 6% to $194.8 billion. Agricultural exports, which accounted for 15.3% of the total, increased 0.6% to $36.4 billion. Mining exports, at 2.6% of the total, were up 3.4% to $6.2 billion.
Germany was Türkiye’s largest export market in 2025 with $19.8 billion, followed by the United Kingdom at $14.2 billion and the United States at $13.2 billion.
Istanbul remained the top exporting city with $95.2 billion in overseas sales, ahead of Kocaeli at $22.9 billion and Bursa at $17.9 billion.
