Representatives of Serbia’s ruling coalition met on Monday with a delegation from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Monitoring Committee at the Serbian parliament, officials said.

According to a statement from the National Assembly, the meeting was attended by members of ruling party parliamentary groups and members of the PACE Monitoring Committee delegation.

The ruling coalition said it attaches “full importance” to cooperation with the Council of Europe, describing it as one of the most significant international institutions, and expressed readiness for continued engagement.

Aleksandar Mirković, who led the largest parliamentary group on behalf of the ruling majority, said the meeting provided an opportunity to review Serbia’s current situation “from multiple perspectives,” according to the statement.

He added that the governing majority remains open to dialogue and prepared to respond to all questions raised by the delegation.

The visit by the PACE Monitoring Committee forms part of its regular oversight of member states’ compliance with democratic standards, human rights obligations and rule-of-law commitments within the Council of Europe framework.

The opposition was not quoted in the ruling coalition’s statement, and no formal conclusions were announced following the talks.
