Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said on Sunday that he has never participated in electoral fraud and will always recognize the results of elections.

“Never have I participated in any election theft, nor am I interested in doing so. The moment I feel I lack legitimacy, I step aside. My mandate will expire, and according to surveys, my legitimacy remains far higher than that of others, especially those making such claims,” Vučić said after inspecting the final works on a new facility for the “Kobre” police unit.

He was responding to statements by Dragan Đilas, leader of the opposition Freedom and Justice Party, who claimed Vučić would not accept defeat and suggested that power could be reclaimed on the streets, similar to events in October 2000.

Vučić criticized Đilas, saying his party had previously attempted to overturn electoral outcomes in Belgrade after losing elections.

“Do not forget that for three months they accused SPS of electoral fraud. They did this because they lacked strength and credibility, and they tried to manipulate the will of Belgrade citizens,” Vučić said.

Vučić added that he will accept the results regardless of the outcome, emphasizing the importance of democracy. “The voice of the people is the voice of God, and people know I have never lied about election results. Once the results are announced, everyone sees them,” he said.

He accused other political actors of attempting to manipulate election results in several municipalities, including Kosjerić, Zaječar, and Mionica, noting that opposition losses were substantial.

Vučić also addressed claims by lawyer Borivoje Borović that criminals in Pionirski Park were extorting citizens, saying Borović himself was known for racketeering.

“Those who have preserved the state are heroes. They protected it from criminals like Borović,” he said.

On the opposition’s preparations for upcoming elections, Vučić challenged the accuracy of their claims regarding signature collection for election initiatives, describing them as exaggerated and misleading.

He called on opposition figures to engage constructively in dialogue rather than resort to threats or street protests, warning that failing to do so could result in a decisive electoral defeat.
