A 22-year-old Serbian national will appear in court on Monday after Croatian police filed a misdemeanor charge against him for disturbing public order and violating traffic laws, officials said.

The man was stopped on Sunday by police in the coastal city of Split, two days after he posted a photo on social media showing himself standing on a moving motorcycle with both arms raised in a three-finger salute — a gesture widely associated with Serbian nationalism.

Police said the act constituted a public order offence. During the traffic stop, authorities also found the motorcycle to be technically unfit for use, leading to its removal from circulation.

The police proposed a fine of 700 euros and referred the vehicle for an extraordinary technical inspection. Additionally, under Croatia’s Foreigners Act, the man has been ordered deported and banned from entering or residing in any EU or EEA member state.
